LL2912 is a flying lead version of microphone ribbon transformer LL2911. Core is our proprietary high mu amorphous strip core.

This transformer is an expert in the field of application ribbon microphones. You can change the stock transformer of many ribbon mics with the Lundahl ll2912 to improve the sound.

a solid choise

I had heard good things about this transformer, to upgrade cheap ribboin mics, or to put in DIY projects.

After testing it, I am really happy with the prefomance! My my SubZero SZ-R1 now sounds different in several ways:
1. Lower self noise
2. Better bass control
3. A bit more detail in the 7kHz and above range

Service and shipping from Don Audio was also a good experience.

Astonishing ribbon mic upgrade

I used this trafo to upgrade my Golden Age R1 mkII. It gives you way more transient detail and the highs seem to go way up. In fact, when used together with a Triton Fethead, it is a little too much in my opinion.
This could be due to the factory installed meshes around the ribbon motor, which normally emphasise the highs in combination with the stock trafo.
(So I guess, I have to get rid of them)
However, when loading the ribbon mic with an impedance of around 2k, it sounds excellent!
This upgrade is definitely well worth the money and will make you and your ribbon mic shine.
